A psychopomp. Pyschopomps are the spiritual escorts of newly-deceased souls to the afterlife.

This one is named The Drawn Hart. He's the keeper of the souls of failed heroes. Y'know those skulls and bones and armored carcasses the conquering hero of every story tromps by, the rotten bodies scattered all over the monster-du-jour's dank and menacing lair? The Hart takes care of those poor bastards. The ambitious incompetents who made a grab for glory, but just couldn't cut it. The guys who wound up as scenery.

I imagine he's pretty busy.

When The Hart shepherds those mildly-stunned spirits away from the mortal coil, whether the shade in question chooses to address the antlered nightjar protruding from The Hart's neck stump or the mask held in its hooves determines its final destination. Where each leads, I have no idea. I'm not a failed hero.

For sale on Etsy. But of course.

I follow Templar, and one of the things I really enjoy about your work is that you have amazing perspective. You sneak up on a topic or concept from a direction it's least expecting, and then you add enough of your own style to it that it's something distinctly different.

Case in point? A psychopomp specifically for failures.

Nice.
